Blondie 1981 ...rapping with the hippest of NYC.

It's 1981. Rapture captures the hippest snapshot you can get, a debbie harry song, a rap about eating cars, fab five freddy, she's chatting it up at the dj tables with Jean-Michel Basquiat, i mean. it's like a time capsule video.
here's the song, i can't embed the video - but it's on youtube:

McLyte. "And If you Understood Would You......"

I had to put this remix on first, even tho it was made in '96. It is so beautiful.
McLyte - the Milk Dee remix. Oh this is sooooooooo good.

So McLyte was just killing it on the mic, she ahd many hits of the eighties, and the best was her colab with Sinead O'conner's pop hit.
but 1988 she gave us:

in 1989 - - - Cha Cha Cha......."I do get better"

saving the best for last:

Cute-E-Nuff ....who are you, where are you

So one of the songs I transferred before i left was Cute-E-Nuff "Boys aint nothin but a bother" 1989

When i go to do a little web research, i can't find a thing about Cute-e-nuff. who was she? was it just a studio produced thing? The label is Cocorde music group. So maybe someone from the Bay Area? If you have any info, pics, video please direct me to it!

This is all i have, it has some pretty funny samples.

Do you think it was an answer song to the Fresh Prince?
Girls aint nothin but trouble? 1988

update. as i researched, ice cream tee did a response track called: Guys Aint Nothing But Troube.

i love that people on youtube are dedicating the video to tiger woods.

i love this battle:

This battle is amazing, people always act like hiphop was weak and clean and dorky in the 80's, but listen to this - 1986.

Antoinette. Baby Make It Boom - posted by BeatsLikeABoxer

I have been collecting records for years, I have about 9,000 and many have been for pleasure, others have been for parties I have dj'ed. One of my favorite genres of all time is early break dancing and electro music, the beginning time period of hip hop in a way. Africa Bambaataa -

I wanted to start posting about some of my favorite songs, and as I was searching through crates I kept coming across women rappers from 1979 - 1989, rappers not mentioned well in the history of hip hop. I get a little frustrated with the media and music shows that overlook the many women in the beginning of hip hop; freestylers, rappers, crew members, groups and solos.
I want these posts to reveal the diverse sounds of all the ladies on the mic. Many of the songs a word or two is exchanged to a competing rapper. All of them are gems.

This is the first post, Baby Make It Boom, Antoinette. 1986.

I hear a little bit of "working in a coal mine" & "I feel good" in there, what a crazy combo.

Baby Make It Boom - Antoinette by BeatsLikeABoxer

I highly suggest if anyone has any links or info about these amazing women rappers from the beginning of HipHop please post.
Music posted here is truly only to promote the artist and their work. And please do not post hate this is an appreciation blog with due respect.
